
The car was older than both of us combined, or felt like it. The plan was simple: drive west until the road ran out of reasons to continue.
Blue hour
Out here, dusk doesn't fall — it settles. For twenty minutes after sunset, the whole desert turns the colour of a bruise healing. The mountains go flat and cut-out, the headlights start to matter, and every conversation in the car stops at once.
Things the desert removes
Signal. Schedules. The need to say something interesting. By day four, we were communicating mostly through the choice of the next song.

Arrival
We reached the coast on day nine, at night, and didn't see the ocean at all. We just heard it — and that was enough.
